How to Fix the Windows 11 File Explorer Glitch

glitch

If your business has recently updated to Windows 11 version 24H2, you might have noticed an annoying glitch in File Explorer.

File Explorer is the go-to tool for navigating your files and folders. Normally, it’s simple and reliable. But after this latest update, some people are reporting an issue with the “See more” menu (those three little dots you click to access extra options like “Select All” and “View Properties”).

What’s the glitch?

Instead of appearing neatly below your mouse cursor, the “See more” menu is flying off to the top of the screen. Sometimes, it disappears completely.

And if you’ve got File Explorer running in full-screen mode, it’s even worse. Some menu options might be completely out of sight, making it tricky to get things done.

The fix (for now)

Thankfully, there’s a quick and easy workaround:

👉 Switch to windowed mode.

Here’s how:

  • Open File Explorer.
  • Click the square icon in the top-right corner (next to the “X” you’d click to close it).
  • This will make File Explorer share your screen with other applications, rather than taking up the whole screen. You can then resize the window, which helps keep that “See more” menu visible – even if it’s still acting up.

The good news

Microsoft knows about the problem and is working on a fix. But until then, this workaround will help keep you and your team productive.

Little glitches like this can be a pain when you’re trying to focus on your work.
