Outlook Translation, Bye bye IE 11, and more: Microsoft 365 Updates

Outlook: Translation

A new feature is coming to Outlook for Windows, which will allow users to translate messages, or parts of messages.

When Outlook detects that a received message is in a language other than that in the user’s mailbox’s language, it will ask the user if they want to translate it by showing that option at the top of the message. Users can select to “Never translate” messages from that language. They can also translate specific words or phrases using the context menu.

Internet Explorer 11 being retired

Microsoft 365 apps and services will no longer support Internet Explorer 11 (IE 11) after August 17, 2021.

It’s vital that all customers still using IE 11 transition to an alternative web browser such as Edge, Chrome or Firefox before that date.

Intune: Accept Apple’s T’s & C’s

Apple has released new terms and conditions for its services. An administrator for your organisation needs to accept these terms in Apple Business Manager (DEP) to ensure than managed devices can still communicate with Intune.

Shifts: Tags for groups

Tag in chat

Shifts is an app in Microsoft Teams that helps keep workers connected and in sync.

This change means every group will have a tag – which is how you @mention them, allowing you to target everyone on a specific shift rather than having to target individuals.
