Microsoft 365 Updates

All of the updates to the Microsoft 365 services can be found in your admin centre, but here is a summary of the important changes from the last week.

Teams: Floating call controls

Floating controls on a phone

The call controls will always be visible on iOS and Android devices. This feature makes it easier to access key controls such as mute/unmute. Users will no longer be able to dismiss floating call controls by tapping on the screen.

Teams: Participant Reports

Download participant list

There are some updates coming to the participant report, which will allow the meeting organizer to download the attendance report from the meeting chat when the meeting is over. Only the meeting organiser can do this.

The meeting report will include:

  • Duration
  • Email Address
  • Meeting Start Time
  • Meeting Title

This feature is off by default, but can be enabled using PowerShell like this:

Set-CsTeamsMeetingPolicy -Identity Global - AllowEngagementReport "Enabled"

Teams: Custom meeting logo

New meeting lobby

Teams admins will be able to upload a custom logo for display in the Teams meeting lobby and pre-join screens. This feature is completely optional for your organization.

It will be displayed only in meetings where the organizer has an Advanced Communication license.

Teams: Spotlight

The meeting presenter will be able to spotlight an individual participant, making that participant the main video shown to all participants.

Microsoft Forms: Print a blank form

Microsoft Forms owners will be able to print a blank form, either to a printer or to a PDF, to share the form with people who cannot access it online.

Outlook for iOS

Outlook for IOS only supports the latest two versions. With iOS 14 about to be released, this will mean iOS 12 is no longer supported. Also, watchOS 4 and 5 will no longer be supported.

This means you should upgrade your Apple devices to the minimum supported.
